国际展览局秘书长：参展方数量质量都有保证

Shanghai is to present a "quality" World Expo despite challenges posed by its unprecedented size and an expected record high number of visitors, said chief of the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) yesterday.
A concern for the BIE and the Expo's organizers is "how to balance the largest participation ever with a quality exposition," said Vicente Gonzalez Loscertales, secretary-general of the BIE, at a press conference.
Eight years ago when the organizing work began, "we knew we had to face challenges at an unexpected scale," and problems were expected to emerge during the Expo which would see "the largest park, the largest number of visitors and the largest number of participants", he said.
However, in two days when the Expo opens doors to the world, "visitors will see that this challenge of quantity and quality had been very successfully met", he said.
Loscertales attributed the success to full support from the Chinese central government and the Shanghai organizers.
Some 189 countries and 57 international organizations would take part in the Shanghai Expo, which features some 189 National Pavilion Days and 39 International Organization Days as well as 20,000 cultural performances.
The six-month event is expected to attract over 70 million visitors from both home and abroad.

据《东方早报》报道，“到目前为止，上海世博会的参展数量达到了246个国家和国际组织。”上海世博会事务协调局局长洪浩直言，这两天世博会参展的数字记录还在不断变化。目前参展的246个国家和国际组织中，国家有189个，国际组织从原来的50个增加到57个。
在早前宣布过确认参展的192个国家中，不丹、布基纳法索、科威特由于种种困难到现在还未前来参展。洪浩表示，这3个国家对于上海世博会也给予了很大的支持，参展人员也尽了很大的努力，我们欢迎他们前来参观2010年上海世博会。
国际展览局秘书长洛塞泰斯直言，从参展方的数量上来说，本届世博会是非常成功，非常完满的。“已经完全达到了预计的目标。”
洛塞泰斯说，对于上海世博会的组织者和国际展览局来说，办博初期，一个很大的担忧就是如何保证高质量参与上海世博会。但就目前情况看，参展方的数量得到保证，同时没有牺牲质量。参展质量仍然非常高。“我想大家已经通过试运行看到各个国家的展馆都是非常精彩、非常吸引人的。”
