China's Central Bank has signed an agreement with its counterpart in Belarus. The deal paves the way for bilateral trade to be settled with the Chinese yuan and Belarusian ruble. The agreement aims to deepen economic cooperation and facilitate trading and investment between the two countries.

The People's Bank of China said it is the first currency swap agreement signed between China and a non-neighboring country. The agreement is another major step in promoting the yuan in international trade settlement.
