LOS ANGELES - Beverly Hills, Calif., police say detectives are investigating after pop icon Whitney Houston died in her room on the fourth floor of the Beverly Hilton.

警方透露惠特尼·休斯顿死于比佛利山庄希尔顿酒店四楼的房间中，具体死因尚待调查。

Beverly Hills police Lt. Mark Rosen told reporters outside the Beverly Hilton that Houston was pronounced dead at 3:55 a.m. in her room on the fourth floor of the hotel. Her body remained there and Beverly Hills detectives were investigating.

据悉休斯顿于凌晨3点55分被宣布死亡，遗体还留在酒店房间内调查。

"There were no obvious signs of any criminal intent at this time," Rosen said.

警方表示当时室内没有明显犯罪迹象

Houston's publicist, Kristen Foster, said Saturday that the cause of her death is unknown.

其经纪人周六表示死因尚不明确。

Rosen said police received a 911 call from hotel security about Houston at 3:43 p.m. Saturday. Paramedics who were already at the hotel because of a Grammy party unsuccessfully tried to resuscitate the singer, he said.

据悉警方是在周六凌晨3点43分收到的酒店保安打来的报警电话。因为有格莱美的派对，急救人员早就抵达现场，却未能挽回惠特尼的生命。

Houston's death came on the eve of music's biggest night -- the Grammy Awards. It's a showcase where she once reigned, and her death is sure to case a heavy pall on Sunday's ceremony.
