Paul McCartney 是最成功的摇滚乐作者，歌手，乐队Beatles的一员。他的歌曲销量成千上万；65年为Beatles所作的《Yesterday 》在美国之声播放达六百万次。1990年McCartney在Rio de Janeiro 举行的独唱音乐会有184,000观众到场。

James Paul McCartney于1942年6月18日生于英格兰的Liverpool，受父亲影响，从小对喜爱音乐，14岁开始弹吉他，57年与John Lennon相识加入乐队Quarrymen，后与John一起成为乐队的写作。几年后，乐队成为Beatles 。1962年Beatles与EMI签约，发行了一系列金曲，并于64年将影响扩展到美国。68开始，乐队对音乐风格发展方向逐渐出现分歧。69年Phil Spector被邀请参与制作《Let It Be》，他的一些行为使McCartney很恼火。其后，McCartney开始制作独唱专辑《McCartney》，于1970年四月发行。专辑由他和妻子Linda合作，到达榜首。1970年4月10日，McCartney公开宣称Beatles解体。他们后又发行了单曲《Another Day》和专辑《Ram》。
