"Sorry," he grunted, as the tiny old man stumbled and almost fell. It was a few seconds before Mr. Dursley realized that the man was wearing a violet cloak. He didn't seem at all upset at being almost knocked to the ground. On the contrary, his face split into a wide smile and he said in a squeaky voice that made passersby stare, "Don't be sorry, my dear sir, for nothing could upset me today! Rejoice, for You-Know-Who has gone at last! Even Muggles like yourself should be celebrating, this happy, happy day!" And the old man hugged Mr. Dursley around the middle and walked off.

Mr. Dursley stood rooted to the spot. He had been hugged by a complete stranger. He also thought he had been called a Muggle, whatever that was. He was rattled. He hurried to his car and set off for home, hoping he was imagining things, which he had never hoped before, because he didn't approve of imagination.

译文：

“对不起。”他咕哝着，面前站着一个踉踉跄跄的几乎要跌倒的矮老头。几秒钟后，杜斯利先生才发觉这个人穿着一件紫色的披风。他看上去对几乎被撞倒在地毫不介意。相反，他咧开嘴笑，并且用一种让旁人侧目的尖嗓子说话，“不要觉得抱歉，先生，今天没有任何事会惹恼我。只有开心！你知道最后谁离开了吗？像你这样的马格人都应该重视这个开心的日子！”这个老人给了杜斯利先生一个只到腰间的拥抱，然后走开了。

杜斯利先生定在了原地。他被一个陌生人拥抱，并且居然被叫作马格人，他被惹火了。他迅速地钻进车内往家赶，希望这一切不过是幻觉——而在这以前他是从来不相信有幻觉存在的。

主要知识点：

1. grunt:

grunt的主要意思就是我们说的“哼哼，嘀咕，咕噜”。
比如说：She grunted some incomprehensible reply. 她咕噜着回答了一些令人费解的话。
而另外有一个词mutter，也是表示“嘀咕”，这个词多表示的是一种抱怨，发牢骚的情绪。
比如说：For some time people had been muttering about the way she ran the department. 人们对她的管理方式私下抱怨已有时日。

2. on the contrary：

小编曾经对on the contrary 以及 in contrast with 两个词组纠结不已。今天这机会咱来一起看一下吧！
1）on the contrary：相反而言……（正相反）
比如说：I'm not ill. On the contrary, I'm very healthy. 我没有生病。正相反，我很健康。
2）in contrast with：相对比而言……（和……对比，对照）
比如说：In contrast to / with the city life, time seemed to pass slowly in the country.
总的来说一句话：相对比的东西未必就一定是相反的。
