Nelson Mandela spent his first day at home after nearly 3 months of hospitalization. The 95-year-old has been undergoing treatment for a recurring lung infection. Officials say he still is in critical condition and needs constant care.
 
Dozens of people were injured after tornadoes tore through eastern Japan. The twisters toppled power lines, sent debris flying and levelled some buildings.
 
And for Diana Nyad, the 5th attempt was success. The 64-year-old swam 103 miles from Havana, Cuba to Key West without the aid of the shark cage. A goal she first attempted 35 years ago.
