News of an "Arrow" spinoff focused on The Flash has snowballed in the past few days. On Tuesday (July 30), the producers of "Arrow" talked to reporters about the details of the Barry Allen character and his "Flash" alter-ego.

Viewers will meet the Allen character over the course of three "Arrow" Season 2 episodes. At first, Barry Allen is nothing more than an ordinary forensic scientist, working at the Central City Police Department. In episodes 8 and 9, Oliver Queen will interact with Allen when the latter visits Starling City. The character will return in episode 20 for a more in-depth look at the future Flash's world.

This final episode will most likely serve as a pilot for any potential spinoff.

Producers Andrew Kreisberg and Geoff Johns wouldn't give away too much of the proposed plot for The Flash, but they were happy to share details of Barry Allen's basic personality.

"Despite the fact that he's got superpowers, I think there's something really relatable about Barry," Kreisberg said. "He got his powers by accident. He isn't a god, he isn't an alien, he wasn't seeking this out. These powers came to him and his reactions to that feel very human and grounded."

How does Barry Allen actually transform into The Flash then? "That's part of the fun for the audience, for the ride, to see how we do our 'Arrow' take on The Flash legacy," explained Kreisberg. But there will definitely be superpowers somehow. "He does need powers to become The Flash," Geoff Johns said. This Flash won't even replace his comic-book costume with a hoodie -- the character's signature red costume will appear.

As for the interactions between Oliver Queen's Green Arrow and Barry Allen's Flash, the two are mostly very different. According to Andrew Kreisberg, "Oliver Queen is a very dark and tortured soul, and Barry is not. I think it'll be a fun byplay to see these two characters together, because they both have distinctly different world views, while both caring deeply about right and wrong."

Geoff Johns added, "He's a cop. He follows the law, he follows the rules ... The last thing in the world he would ever think about is being a vigilante."
