Nowadays, more and more people in society have realized the importance of quality education. However students in primary schools and high schools are still complaining that they are
overloaded with too much homework.
现在，社会上越来越多的人已经意识到素质教育的重要性，然而小学生和中学生却仍然在抱怨他们的作业负担过于沉重。
In many teachers' eyes, homework offers a good method to strengthen the knowledge the students have
obtained, yet they
ignored the disadvantages that homework brings. For one thing too much homework will take up all the spare time of students leaving them unable to enjoy the rest of their lives; for another, too much homework will do great harm to students' health both physically and mentally.
在许多老师看来，家庭作业是一个很好地巩固学生知识的途径，然而，他们忽视了家庭作业所带来的负面影响。一方面，过多的家庭作业占据了学生全部业余时间，使她们无法享受学校生活；另一方面，过多的家庭作业大大损害了学生的身心健康。
It is high time that schools thought more about the function of homework and tried to take
practical measures to promote the all-round development of students.
现在应该是学校进一步考虑家庭作业的作用并采取切实措施去提高学生全方位发展的时候了。
NOTES
1. quality education 素质教育
相对应的“应试教育”叫做exam-oriented education。
2. overload 超载，过载，使负荷过。常搭配with。
例：be overloaded with duties 身负过重的责任
3. For one thing… for another… 一方面…….另一方面……
相同用法还有：On one hand… on the other hand…
4. It is high time (that) +主语+ should do / did… 或 It is high time to do… 是时候做……，该干……
例如“我该回家了”有以下三种说法：
It is high time (that) I should go back home.
It is high time (that) I went back home.
It is high time to go back home.
