A final federal report on a West Virginia coal mine blast that killed 29 men details 369 safety violations. The report comes the same day as the announcement of a record 210 million dollar settlement by the new owners of the mine where the disaster occurred.

President Barack Obama is taking aim at the nation's income disparities. It declared that the middle class faces a make or break moment. Obama invoked big themes of economic fairness, similar to ones delivered by President Theodore Roosevelt in the same rural Kansas town.

Police and demonstrators have been clashing in Moscow and at least two other Russian cities for a second night. It comes among increasing anger over alleged voter fraud. Protesters are targeting Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and his ruling party. It lost a large share of its seats in Sunday's election, but still maintained a majority.

And thousands of Santa Clauses gathered in Poland Tuesday. The Santas, young and old, collected books and presents for Polish children living in other eastern European countries.
