conversation, dialogue, talk, chat

这些名词均含“交谈”之意。

conversation : 一般用词，指两个或更多人互相交换意见的交谈。

I had two conversations with him.（我和他谈了两次话。）

dialogue : 指“对话”。

They had long dialogues.（他们进行了长时间的对话。）

talk : 普通用词，可与conversation换用，指正式交谈。

That long talk healed many of differences.（那次长谈消除了很多分歧。）

chat : 指熟人之间非常随便的交谈，强调谈话的亲密和非正式性

We need less chat and more work if we're to finish this job today.（如果我们想在今天结束这一工作,我们必须少说多干。）

copy, duplicate, model, reproduction, facsimile

这些名词均有“复制品”之意。

copy : 普通用词，含义广泛，指精确的或不精确的复制品。

I sent the letter, but kept a copy for my files.（我寄了信, 但留了份影印本存档。）

duplicate : 常指完全一模一样，可代替原件的复制品。

Your jacket's a duplicate of mine.（你的夹克跟我的一样。）

model : 可指按某物式样制造、按比例缩小的模型，也可指某物未制成之前做出的模型。

This is the model of the proposed new airport.（这就是拟建的新机场模型。）

reproduction : 批按原物复制的产品，着重复制品与原物相似。

The craftsmen have ensured faithful reproduction of the original painting.（工匠保证要复制一幅最接近原作的画。）

facsimile : 含义与copy大体相同，但较文雅。

This a facsimile edition of an eighteenth century book.（这是一本18世纪书籍的复制版。）
