How do you get the medicine you need?

After you see a doctor, he may give you a prescription for medicine. You can take it to a pharmacy to get your medicine. After the pharmacist gets the prescription, she will fill the prescription. Then she will tell you when and how to take the medicines. Some medicines should be taken with food, and others should be taken on an empty stomach. The pharmacist will also tell you about the side effects of the medicine. For example, some medicine makes you sleepy, so you should not drive after you take it. Listen carefully to the pharmacist, and ask questions if you do no understand.

The label on the medicine bottle gives you a lot of information. It will have your name, the name of the medicine and the dosage. It will also tell you if you can refill the prescription. If you can refill it, you don't need to see the doctor again. You just call the pharmacy and tell them you want to refill your prescription.
