11月11日:I'm having a bad hair day.我今天不顺心。

1.a bad hair day:很不顺利的一天
例如:She had a bad hair day.(她今天心情很糟。)
          It is not the end of the world if you have a bad hair day. (不算倒霉了一整天,也不代表就是世界末日了。)

11月12日:The fire caused considerable damage to the church.火灾给教堂造成了巨大的损失。

erable:adj. 相当大的,相当多的;值得考虑的
例如:He made a considerable sum of money in real estate.(他做房地产生意赚了大笔钱。)
          There is a considerable literature in this area.(在该领域存有相当多的文献。)

11月13日:He's very glum about the company's prospects.他对公司的前景感到怏怏不乐。

1.glum:adj. 闷闷不乐的,忧郁的
例如:Why do you look so glum?(你怎么看上去这样闷闷不乐?)
          Don't look so glum!(别那样闷闷不乐。)

11月14日:We enjoyed driving along the new expressway.我们喜欢沿着新建的高速公路开车。

1.enjoy doing喜欢做,乐于做
例如:Children enjoy drinking juice through a straw.(孩子喜欢用吸管喝果汁。)
          Choose a dictionary you enjoy browsing in.(找一本你喜欢翻阅的词典来。)

11月15日:He used to learn everything by rote.他过去总是死记硬背。

1.used to do过去常常做某事
例如:I used to do business with him.(我过去常和他做生意。)
          She used to do sit-ups before sleep, but not now.(她过去睡觉前常做仰卧起坐,但现在不做了。) 

11月16日Jane had confided her secret to Mark, but he betrayed her trust.简向马克吐露了秘密,马克却辜负了她的信任。

e:vt. 吐露,信任 vi. 信任,信赖(常与in搭配)
例如:Do you confide in our ability to do this work?(你相信我们干得了这件工作吗?)
          There's no one here I can confide in.(这里没有一个我可以信赖的人。)

11月17日:The devil finds work for idle hands.游手好闲,造恶之源。

adj. 怠慢的,空闲的,闲置的
例如:All of us are busy over our work and nobody is idle.(我们现在都正忙着, 一个闲人也没有。)
           Even then he was never idle.就在那时,他也没虚度年华。
