09月30日：Concern for the safety of the two missing teenagers is growing.人们对于两个失踪少年安全状况的担忧与日俱增。

n：n. 关心，顾虑，担忧
例如：The children's education is the teacher's uppermost concern.（孩子的教育是教师所最为关注的。）
          Our chief concern at the moment is the weather.（眼前我们最关心的事是天候。）

10月01日：We are prohibited from smoking in public places.我们被禁止在公共场所抽烟。

it sb. from sth/doing sth.：禁止做某事，阻止做某事
例如：Good manners prohibit me from so rude an answer.（礼貌不允许我做如此粗鲁的回答。）
          Traffic regulations prohibit people from riding bicycles on the sidewalk.（交通规则禁止在人行道上骑自行车。）

10月02日：The population of the city is close to a million.这个城市的人口接近一百万。

1.be close to： 接近，靠近
例如：His house is close to the park.（他的家挨着公园。）
          My hometown is close to the sea.（我的家乡临近大海。）

10月03日：I don't doubt his abilities.对于他的能力我并不怀疑。

1.ability：能力，力量
例如：He has a great deal of native intelligence, ability, charm, etc.（他天生聪明、 能力强、 有魅力等等。）
          Diligence combined with natural ability earned him commendations from superiors.（勤奋加上天赋，使他受到了上司们的好评。）

10月04日：I'm afraid that won't be possible, much as we'd like to.尽管我们很想这样做，但恐怕不行了。

as：虽然，尽管
例如：Much as I wish to, I really can't.（尽管我愿意留下，但我又不得不走。）
          Much as I like you, I couldn't live with you.（我尽管很喜欢你，却不能和你在一起生活。） 

10月05日：This photograph from our wedding is my greatest treasure.这张婚礼上的照片是我最宝贵的财富。

re：n. 珍宝，财富；珍藏品
例如：It is a rare and delicate treasure.（这是一件难得的精美的珍品。）
          Knowledge is a treasure, but practice is the key to it.（知识是一座宝库，而实践就是开启宝库的钥匙。）

10月06日：They don't know how to run a business.他们不懂如何经营公司。

a business：经营生意
例如：Do you have any idea how to run a business?（你知道如何经营公司吗？）
          He has no idea of how to run a successful business.（他不知道把企业办好的方法。）
