09月02日：They played a shameful part in the whole affair.他们在这一事件中扮演了可耻的角色。

a part：扮演...的角色，起...作用
例如：Recent structural changes also play a part.（最近的结构性变化也扮演了重要角色。）
          Under certain circumstances their country of origin may also play a part.（在某些情况下，他们的本籍也可能起一定的作用。）

09月03日：All that glitters is not gold.闪光的不一定都是金子。

r：vi. 闪烁，闪耀，闪光
例如：The morning dews glitter in the sun.（晨露在阳光下闪烁。）
          A half-moon caused the rippling sea to glitter.（半月于微波的海面闪闪发亮。）

09月04日：I owed him a favour so I couldn't say no.我欠他一个人情，所以我没法拒绝。

1.owe： 欠；感激；归功于；应给予
例如：Actually it' s we that owe you a lot.（实际上，应该是我们感谢您。）
         I owe it to you that I am still alive.（幸亏有你我现在才仍然活着。）

09月05日：The mother sat the child at a little table.母亲安排孩子坐在小桌旁。

1.sit sb. (on/at/in... sth.)：让某人坐在某处
例如：She sat the child in the chair.（她把孩子放在椅子上。）
          He lifted the child and sat her on the wall.（他把小孩举起来， 让她坐在墙上。）

09月06日：We hope to discuss business with you at your earliest convenience.我方希望尽早与贵方洽谈业务。

your earliest convenience：尽早，在你方便的时候
例如：Come at your earliest convenience.（你方便的时候请尽早光临。）
          Please deliver the goods at your earliest convenience.（请尽早送货。） 

09月07日：Our hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcome.主人想方设法让我们感觉自己很受欢迎。

out of one's way to do sth. ：不辞辛苦地做某事，想尽办法
例如：The shop assistant goes out of his way to find what we needed.（那个店员不厌其烦地满足我们的需要。）
          My mother went out of her way to cook the foods we loved-just to make us happy.（我母亲不怕麻烦，烧我们喜欢的饭菜——只是为了让我们开心。）

09月08日：She saw a college degree as her path to success.她将大学文凭视作成功之道。

to success：通往成功的道路
例如：Hard work is the path to success.（努力工作是成功之路。）
          It is a good path to success, be it great or small, as long as we blaze our own trail.（不论是大路或小路，只要是以自己的力量所走出来的路，就是成功的好路。）
