07月02日:Are you pulling my leg?你在开我玩笑吗?

one's leg:开某人的玩笑
例如:Don't pull my leg. I know you did not really win the lottery.(别开我的玩笑了。我知道你没真的中彩券。)
          If you remain stuck-up, they will often try to pull your leg.(假如你还是目中无人的话,他们会常常想愚弄你的。)

07月03日:Pull yourself together and stop drinking so much!振作起来,别喝那么多酒了。

oneself together:振作起来,恢复精神
例如:Pull yourself together and try again!(振作起来,重新再来!)
          Stop acting like a baby, pull yourself together.(不要像个孩子似的,保持镇静。)

07月04日:It's high time we left home.是时候离开家了。

1.high time:应该(立即)做某事的时候
例如:It is high time you made up your mind.(你该拿主意了。)
          It's high time we squared accounts up with you.(我们该和你算帐了。)

07月05日:Some people never adjust to the loss of a loved one.有些人永远无法从失去挚爱的人的悲痛中走出来。

1.adjust to调节,适应
例如:The eyes need several minutes to adjust to the dimness.(需要花几分钟的时间使眼睛适应昏暗。)
          He found it difficult to adjust to his mother-in-law(他很难适应他的岳母。)

07月06日:The problem caught her off base.这个问题让她措手不及。

base:adj. 大错特错的
                  adv. 冷不防地
例如:His idea is completely off base.(他的想法大错特错。)
          He caught me off base with that question.(他的问题猝然把我给问倒了。)

07月07日:He has taken to his bed with a bad cold.他因为重感冒卧病在床。

to one's bed:(因病)睡倒,上床睡觉
例如:The doctor told him to take to his bed.(医生叫他卧床休息。)
          He was forced to take to his bed for ten days.(他被迫卧床十天。)

07月08日:Don’t worry on my behalf.别为我担心。

one's behalf:为了某人,代表某人
例如:Don' t trouble to do it on my behalf.(不要为了我去麻烦了。)
          I wrote several letters on his behalf.我代表他写了好几封信。)
