beside prep. 在…旁边；在…附近；与…相比；与…无关 near adv. 在近处；亲近地；相近地 adj. 近的；亲近的；相近的；左边的 prep. 靠近 v. 靠近，接近 从词性上看就可以看出beside只能做介词，但是near除了能作为介词以外，还能做为形容词/副词/动词。 另外，从含义上来看，两个词都是介词的时候： 1) near 靠近，接近；近似于 The fire warden told us not to light matches near the gas station. 消防队长告诉我们不要在靠近加油站划火柴。 My birthday is very near Christmas. 我的生日离圣诞节很近。 2) beside 1.在…附近 He left Wilson beside the petrol dump and walked on. 他把威尔逊扔在汽油桶旁边，向前走去。 There are some fish in the small lake, so many water birds live beside it. 那个泡子里有鱼，所以常有水鸟在附近栖息。 2.与…相比 beside your earlier work this piece seems rather disappointing. 这件工作同你早先的工作相比，有些令人失望。 Our achievements seem small beside his. 与他的成就相比我们的就显得微不足道了。 3.与…无关；与…不相干；超出…以外 The fact that he doesn't like you is beside the question. 他不喜欢你的事实已经离题了。 Her remarks were beside the question. 她的话与这问题不相干。 根据例句，你应该可以更好地体会它们的区别了吧？
