01月13日：Pride goes before a fall.骄者必败。

1.pride：n. 自豪，自尊心，骄傲
例如：And yet he generates some pride.（不过他还是打起点儿自尊心来。）
          His pride was cut to the quick.（他的自尊心受到极大伤害。）

01月14日：It it not surprising that romance springs up at the office.办公室恋情不足为奇。

up：发生，出现
例如：Some weeds spring up in only one night.（有些杂草一夜间就会长出来。）
          The wheat is beginning to spring up.（小麦正开始迅速生长。）

01月15日：Children are the glue that keeps a family together.孩子是家庭的粘合剂。

：n. 粘合剂，胶粘物
例如：He stuck some bits of wood together with glue.（他用胶水把碎片粘在一起。）
          Glue has stuck to his fingers.（胶水粘在他手指上了。）

01月16日：The space travellers made a successful landing on the moon.太空旅行者成功登上月球。

1.land on：（飞机等）降落于，落在…上
例如：Incoming flights land on this side of the airport.（入境的飞机停在机场这一边。）
          A flying boat is an aeroplane that can land on water.（飞船是能在水上降落的飞机。）

01月17日：You should avoid eating too much greasy food during the Spring Festival.春节期间你可不要吃太多油腻的食物。

：adj. 油腻的，滑溜溜的，泥泞的
例如：My stomach turns at greasy food.（一看到油腻的食品我就恶心。）
         I usually have to wash the greasy pots and pans.（我得常常洗沾满油污的锅子。） 

01月18日：I’m calling to confirm that you received my resume.我打电话过来想确认一下你是否收到了我的简历。

m：v. 证实，使巩固，批准
例如：I'll confirm your appointment as soon as possible, Mr. White.（怀特先生，我会尽快给您确认的。）
          Can you confirm that the meeting is at 9:00 a.m.?（你能否确认一下，开会的时间是早上9点吗？）

01月19日：It sounds suspicious to me.对我来说这听起来很可疑。

ious：adj. 感觉可疑的，不信任的
例如：He's a suspicious bastard.（他是个疑心重重的混蛋。）
          The police found no suspicious document whatsoever.（警察未发现任何可怀疑的文件。）
