This bridge crosses the spacious Hangzhou Bay and connects Jiaxing and Ningbo, two prosperous cities in East China’s Zhejiang Province.
It's been finished since last summer. But yesterday, the world's longest trans-oceanic bridge opened for traffic here in China. The Hangzhou Bay Bridge is 36 kilometers of 6 lane traffic that links Shanghai and Ningbo, and will reduce the driving time between the two cities on the Yangtze River Delta from 4 hours to around two. The massive project cost 11.8 billion Yuan, but is expected to reap long-term economic benefits for the region.

新华网宁波5月1日电(记者 李亚彪)杭州湾跨海大桥于5月1日23时58分准时试运营通车，在桥边等候的车辆开始陆续过桥。
杭州湾跨海大桥北起浙江省嘉兴市海盐县，南止于宁波慈溪市，全长36公里，是目前世界上已建和在建的最长跨海大桥。
大桥按双向六车道高速公路设计，设计时速为100公里，可以缩短宁波至上海间的陆路距离120公里。
