Sony has unveiled its new line-up of 3D televisions in Tokyo. The presentation comes as TV manufacturers seek to capitalize on the growing demand spurred by a spate of popular 3D theatrical releases.

With blockbusters such as "Avatar" sparking huge interest from moviegoers, electronics manufacturers are rushing to provide customers with cinematic experiences in the comfort of their own living rooms.

The new Bravia line of televisions will go on sale in Japan on June 10th. Sony displayed a full set-up consisting of 12 new TV models, 8 of which are 3D compatible.

The company also plans to release an onslaught of other 3D products at the same time, including an update to its hot-selling Playstation 3 system that would allow consumers to play video games in 3D.

Yutaka Nakamura, marketing manager of Sony Display Marketing, said, "3D films have been very popular at movie theaters. We believe the time is right, and that we are well prepared to bring 3D into people's living rooms along with appropriate content, in the summer of 2010."
