On this day in history February 3rd 1989, Walt Disney World issues new Disney Dollars. The $1 bill depicts Mickey Mouse, and the $5 bill depicts Goofy. Disney Dollars are created with anti-counterfeiting features such as microprinting and reflective ink and imprinting on the front and back of the bill， making them hard to scan or copy. The money is also printed with serial numbers and letters that are unique to each bill.

February 4th, 2005. Walt Disney World’s Pleasure Island celebrates Mardi Gras with a Disney twist – Parti Gras. This boisterous event features anything and everything Mardi Gras, including feathered banners, purple and green garland, and Mardi Gras masks. And there is no shortage of lively entertainment: stilt walkers, jugglers, a yo-yo professional and a beaded person. Yes, a person literally covered with beads. While Disney allowed all the outdoor elements of the celebration to be free to the public. Guests still had to pay admission to the Pleasure Island nightclubs.

February 5th, 2005. Walt Disney World takes home 2 more Thea Awards. The winners were Disney’s Mission: SPACE and Walt Disney Imagineer’s for Lucky the Dinosaur. The first, fully autonomous, walking audio-animatronic figure capable of interacting with guests. He is completely self-contained and is operated by a single person who controls 40 animated functions. Guests interact with Luck as he breathes, walks, snorts, winks and even gets the hiccups. Lucky won for technology and Mission: SPACE won for attraction with technology breakthrough.
