At least one person was injured after a magnitude-5 earthquake hit the border area between southwest China's Sichuan province and Chongqing Municipality.

The epicenter of the Sunday morning tremor was at the juncture part, between Sichuan's Suining City and Chongqing's Tongnan County. The quake struck at 5:36am Beijing time, with a depth of about 10 kilometers.

No big earthquake had been reported in the past in the area.

Seismologists in Sichuan were still not sure if the quake was an aftershock of the 8.0-magnitude quake in Sichuan on May 12th, 2008, which left about 87-thousand people dead or missing.
