The Red Cross says it’s estimating up to 50,000 people have died in the Haitian earthquake. Meantime the casualty numbers for the UN personnel keep mounting with officials now saying 36 people have been killed, nearly 200 are missing.

The FAA have stopped all air traffic to Haiti. U.S. officials say they halted all civilian flight from the U.S. to Haiti at the request of the Haitian government because there is no room on the ground for more planes and not enough jet fuel for planes to go back.

President Barack Obama says the U.S government is making an initial pledge of $100 million for the earthquake relief effort. He says “one of the largest relief efforts in our recent history is moving toward Haiti.”

The tallest man of the world welcomed the shortest man in the world to his native Turkey on Thursday in celebration of the world records. At 8'1”, Sultan Kosen is officially the world’s tallest man, he also holds the record for the largest hands and feet. The little title holder, Pingping from China stands at 2'5”.
