Boney M前西德的 Boney M 迪斯科演唱组是70 - 80年代非常成功和重要的迪斯科演唱组合之一，代表作有Rivers Of Babylon, Brown Girl In The Ring等。Boney M 在德国的第一次亮相是在1976年的一台最重要、最著名的电视表演秀“Musikladen”中演唱了歌曲《爸爸真酷》。自那以后，Boney M 的周单曲销量高达十万张。
前西德的 Boney M 演唱组是70 - 80年代非常引人瞩目的一个迪斯科节奏的流行演唱组，乐队成员来自四面八方，有的来自西印度群岛，有的来自牙买加。制作人是弗朗可.菲林(Frank Farian)。
提到 Boney M，你可能会陌生，但是说起《巴比伦河》，它的旋律你一定能哼上一两句。这首歌引领了1970年代末中国青年一代的“时尚旋风”，启蒙了那个时代的“喇叭裤舞会文化”。
1977年他们以一曲“Daddy Cool”红极一时，从欧洲演出到美国。由于他们身上特有的迪斯科韵味，又正好赶上当时美国风行迪斯科热潮，因而大受欢迎。他们擅长将一些老歌改编成迪斯科节奏的舞曲，而给他们改编的老歌总是别具一格，重放异彩，一下成为热门歌曲，令歌迷拍案叫绝。
