freak: a (physically or mentally) strange person畸形的人；有怪癖的人；怪物
例：John spends all his time in the basement and never goes out. What a freak!

freak一词的使用频率非常高，可以用来表示所有狂热、不正常或另类的意思。从专家到发烧友，从男同性恋、嬉皮士、瘾君子、疯狂行为者到性取向紊乱者，如a legless freak（一个没腿的怪物）。它还可以表示女性非同寻常的美丽，也可以是“对某事物有狂热爱好的人”。a poetry freak指诗迷；洁癖可以说clean/neat freak；特别喜欢管头管脚的人可以叫作control freak。

Father: That’s it. You’re grounded!
            够了，我要罚你关禁闭！
George: You can’t ground me. I’m a grown man!

Father: You wanna live here, you respect the rules of our house.You’re grounded!
           你要住在这里就必须尊重我们的规矩，我就是要罚你关禁闭！

ground: (informal) to restrict (someone) especially to a certain place as a punishment（非正式用语）将某人限制在某处作为惩罚
例：Little John was grounded by his parents for having a fist fight with the next-door kids.
     小约翰跟邻居的孩子打架，被父母关禁闭了。

kick: a feeling of pleasurable stimulation快感，一种令人愉悦的刺激感

Shrink is a slang word for psychiatrist, who is also informally known as brain doctor. 精神病医师，精神病学家，心理医生，俗称“脑部医生”。
例：In my neighborhood there’s an all-night shrink service。
      我家隔壁有一间通宵营业的心理诊所。

1 suck 本义是“吸，吮”。注意suck和sucker的区别：sucker 原指乳兽，即没有断奶的家畜，引申为涉世不深、容易上当的傻子，作动词则为“作弄；欺骗”。suck还指不断失败的人，尤指运气太坏或技术太差的人。

2 sucky: very bad, of an extremely low or bad quality糟透了的
例：You’ve Got Mail? That is one sucky movie.
