Scene of the Cream

A year ago, Strasbourg-based engineer and video games designer Nicolas Knepper quit his day job to become a photographer. He started to take professional promotional shots when his wife, winner of French Masterchef in 2011, opened a macaroon bakery.
在法国斯特拉斯堡，有一位名叫尼古拉斯·克内珀的工程师兼视频游戏设计师，一年前他辞去了自己的工作，改行成为了一名摄影师。他的妻子曾是2011年法国大厨比赛的冠军，后来他的妻子开了一家马卡龙烘培店，于是他就开始用自己的专业技术为妻子的烘培店拍摄宣传照片。

“This could refer to lots of crime dramas, but the original idea was Seven: in the movie they talk about the seven sins, and one of them is greed.”

“The film is all about revenge, which is a dish best served cold. To find a cake of the right colour I looked through pastry magazines to find some new ideas.”

“In the TV show they sell crystal meth, and we have these pastries covered in crystal sugar, so I built a story around that. The liquid being burned in the background is sugar.”

“This one was really difficult to make – I wanted to get the same lighting effect as in the movie, and I spent a lot of time painting the figurine. I didn’t want it to look like a toy.”

“This is a traditional French cake you buy once a year, on 6 January. Inside there is a prize, and whoever gets it is a king. So here they’re digging for the hidden treasure.”

“That’s Jason from Friday the 13th. This is just a pun on ‘serial’ and ‘cereal’. I’ve also seen that in London there’s a shop called Cereal Killer that only sells cereal…”
“这幅图中的小人就是《十三号星期五》中的杀手杰森。'连环杀手'与'麦饭杀手'谐音。我在伦敦曾经看到过一家店名字叫‘麦饭杀手’，店里卖的就是谷物。”

“I call this ‘Revenge’ because usually it’s women who eat macaroons, so here the macaroon is eating a woman. I call it the Big White Macaroon.”

“One day I was eating a fig, and I remembered the scene in Return of the Jedi with the monster in the desert called Sarlacc. Figs really look like that monster.”
