    8岁时Mayfield和她的家族乐队One Way Rider一起表演，从俄亥俄州到田纳西州，他们开着1956年的旅行汽车不停飘荡。11岁时，Jessica开始弹吉他写歌。她让她的哥哥David给她几个和弦然后自己开始利用这些和弦写歌。她的哥哥对她的影响很大。Jessica第一份兼职是在Kent的一个酒吧，从此每个星期一她都能获取一些小费和免费的披萨。和第一个男朋友分手后，Jessica找到排解悲伤的出口：那就是音乐。

    Jessica自此开始沉浸在黑暗之中，15岁时录制了自己的首张小样《White Lies》。2008年发行第一张专辑《With Blasphemy So Heartfelt》。Jessica以写黑暗悲伤的歌曲见长，凄凉的声音很容易让人落泪，无限的空旷感更是让人如处荒芜小岛，唯有稀薄的空气作伴。
