However, traffic congestion will not be solved by changing the type of private vehicle people can use. To do this, we need to improve the choice of public transport services available to travellers. For example, if suf-ficient sky trains and underground train systems were built and effectively maintained in our major cities, then traffic on the roads would be dramatically reduced. Long-distance train and coach services should be made attractive and affordable alternatives to driving our own car for long journeys. In conclusion, I think that long-term traffic and pollution reductions would depend on educating the public to use public transport more, and on governments using public money to construct and run efficient systems.
然而让人们改用电动车对于解决交通拥堵问题却没有什么帮助。要解决交通拥堵，还是要大力发展公共交通以方便更多的人出行。例如如果在大城市中有足够多的轻轨和地铁能够良好地运转，路面上的交通压力也就会得到很大缓解。而长途火车和长途汽车旅行也应该做到物美价廉，让更多的人去选择它们而不再自驾出行。 综上所述，我认为从长远来看，要解决交通拥堵和减少污染，取决于教育人们更多地使用公共交通，同时还需要政府使用公共财政去建造并运营有效的公交系统。
