The world’s largest aerospace company, Boeing, and its research partners have made a breakthrough in biofuel development. CCTV’s Chris Kasgayho explores the unique plant that could produce large quantities of biofuel, to power more passenger airplanes.

"Our sincere goal and hope is that we will be able to do that over the next 5 to 10 years, to introduce a large amount of sustainable aviation biofuels to help affect the environment and help airlines improve their fuel volatility costs." Julie Felgar, Boeing said.

Experts in the biofuel industry believe that the research from Boeing and its partners will ultimately help the company sell more jetliners.

"I think they’re doing it because their customers say, we want more airplanes, but they have to be sustainable, they have to be cost effective and biofuels is a true solution to solve all of those." John Plaza, Imperium Renewable said.

"Potentially places like Australia, North Africa, certain portions of China that touch saltwater bodies." Julie Felgar said.
