Nov 4 - A Kenyan comedy duo have staged a mock U.S. election in support of Barack Obama, who's father was Kenyan.

Dozens gathered at Chirombero market in the lakeside town of Kisumu to show their support for the Democratic candidate, writing their 'choice' for president on pieces of paper.

Comedian Milton Obote, in charge of the McCain box, said only a handful of people had "voted" for the Republican. Obama enjoys rock star status in the east African nation. Babies have been named after him, drinkers knock back "Senator" beers in his honour and pop stars sing his praises. There is even an "Obama: The Musical".

Sonai Legg reports.
