Great news now for foodies in Guangzhou, the city’s International Food Festival kicked off on Friday. Over 800 types of food are included to tickle your taste buds, including a treat from Norway.

Sizzling salmon cooked by the consul of Norway. No wonder people are flocking to the stand where it’s being served. The salmon has been imported from Norway and certainly seems to be going down well with locals.

"Very tasty and fresh, just delicious."

In the food from China section, popular local treats from Guangdong are also featured. Be it traditional stew, rice or sausages and meat. Steamed buns and lamb kebabs are made on the spot to satisfy carnivores. Experts also give advice on what to eat.

"It’s very easy to eat lots of unhealthy, fatty foods at this time of year, so try to eat chestnuts, lamb, chicken and beef. If you store up nutrients in the winter, you’ll be healthier in the coming year." said Li Yu, Deputy Director, Guangzhou Culinary Association.

Popular snacks from Southern China are also on sale, with pineapple cakes being snapped up. The event will run until December the 8th and is expected to attract a million hungry visitors.
