Edgar Allan Poe (born Edgar Poe) was an American author, poet, editor, and literary critic, considered part of the American Romantic Movement. Poe was one of the earliest American practitioners of the short story and is generally considered the inventor of the detective fiction genre. He is further credited with contributing to the emerging genre of science fiction.

Poe and his works influenced literature in the United States and around the world, as well as in specialized fields, such as cosmology and cryptography. A number of his homes are dedicated museums today. The Mystery Writers of America present an annual award known as the Edgar Award for distinguished work in the mystery genre.

影片讲述的是主人公亨利·巴赫特，一个有着与学生进行某种情感交流天赋的老师的故事。他为了避免和学生或者是自己的同事产生什么“情感交流”，选择了做一个代课老师，在每个学校都只呆很短的时间，然后就离开。编剧卡尔·隆德用了三个女性和这个代课教师的情感关系，讲述了一个关于人们发现自己、正视自己并重新回归社会和自我的故事。
