The fashion-world is focusing its lens on style-conscious Milan. The Italian city this week opened its doors for four days of menswear shows.

This year’s offerings in Milan’s Men’s Fashion Week began being rolled out onto the catwalk on Saturday.

Day one of the four-day event saw renowned brands, including Ermenegildo Zegna and Jil Sander, showcase their collections. Organizers say that high-end, world famous fashion houses always keep Milan on their radar.

Mario Boselli, President of National Chamber of Italian Fashion, said, "We make beautiful and well-made garments with the best fabrics, which is very important for menswear. Milan also has a lot of fashion houses and showrooms, which can attract buyers from all over the world."

A total of 38 shows by 37 fashion brands will be held in historic buildings and boutiques across the city. Prestigious names such as Bottega Veneta, Giorgio Armani and Gucci are also on the bill.

The event also made efforts to promote young talent. Four young designers -one from China, two Italians and a German- will make their runway debuts during the week.
