Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee will make his TV directorial debut on the pilot for News Corp’s FX’s new drama series “Tyrant.”

Not coincidentally, “Life of Pi” was distributed by News Corp’s Fox.

“Tyrant,” about an American family drawn into the workings of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation, was created by Gideon Raff, whose Israeli series “Prisoners of War” was the source material for “Homeland.”

Howard Gordon and Craig Wright “developed” the new FX series.

Lee’s not the first director to migrate from big screen to small after winning an Oscar. Kathryn Bigelow won an Oscar for “Hurt Locker” and then signed on to direct the pilot for HBO’s “The Miraculous Year,” about a New York family as seen through the lens of a self-destructive Broadway composer.

据FX电视网透露，《暴君》讲述的是一个被牵扯进中东的动荡局势中的故事。故事的主创霍华德·戈登则是《国土安全》的编剧。

《国土安全》之前曾获得第64届艾美奖剧情类最佳剧集、70届金球奖剧情类最佳剧集等多项大奖。

李安已经不是电影转战电视剧的第一人了。之前凭借《拆弹部队》获得奥斯卡最佳影片的导演凯瑟琳·毕格罗也在获奖后拾起电视剧导演身份拍摄了HBO剧集《奇迹年代》。
