World No. 1 Wang Yihan was taking on Indonesian Aprilla Yuswandari. Wang, the Olympic champion who was battling against injury the last month, struggled to win the first set 21-15.

The second set was even harder for her when Yuswandari took a 19-18 lead. But the Indonesian would then hit long on three conseuctive points, handing the victory to Wang Yihan 21-19.
