Possible bribery and kickback at the General Services Administration, the agency’s independent inspector general told congressional hearing that he is leading multiple investigations. Meanwhile, a central figure in the GSA spending scandal asserted his fifth Amendment right to remain silent before the committee.

Experts say about 75 tornadoes touched down in four plain states over the weekend. Most were in Kansas, the rest touching down in Oklahoma, Iowa and Nebraska. One of the tornadoes has blamed for six deaths in Oklahoma.

The Norwegian man on trial for killing 77 people on a single day in July shed tears in court today, but not for his victims. The right-wing nationalist defended the killing as an act of self-defense in a self-professed civil war against Islam in Norway.

A remembrance ceremony honored the victims of the sinking of the Titanic in Nova Scotia over the weekend. The memorial service marked the 100th anniversary of the ship’s sinking. At the cemetery where more than 100 gravestones of Titanic victims can still be seen.
