Jake Gyllenhaal is reportedly in talks to star in the upcoming indie flick An Enemy.

The 31-year-old actor would team up with director Denis Villeneuve on the movie based on Jose Saramago‘s novel “The Double.”

“The story revolves around a dysfunctional history teacher who accidentally discovers his exact double on a rented DVD, seeks him out and ends up turning both of their lives upside down,” according to Variety.

The trade adds that if he takes on the project, Jake would play two roles in the film, which is being described as “dark and edgy.”

若泽·萨拉马戈曾有多部作品改变成电影，最知名的则是2008年的那部《盲流感》，还曾成为戛纳电影节开幕影片。本片将由《魔岛迷踪》的编剧哈维尔·古隆负责剧本改编工作。加拿大导演丹尼斯·维伦纽瓦担任导演，他在2010年的影片《焦土之城》曾获得当年奥斯卡最佳外语片的提名。

据悉，杰克·吉伦哈尔将在片中一人分饰两角。
