NANJING - Southern Chinese city Nanjing said it will suspend official exchanges with Japanese city Nagoya following its mayor's denial of the Nanjing Massacre, a spokesman of the foreign affairs office of the Nanjing municipal government said Tuesday night.
南京市2月21日消息,针对日本名古屋市市长关于“不存在南京大屠杀”的言论,南京人民政府外事办新闻发言人对外发布,南京市将暂停与名古屋市政府间的官方交往。

Nagoya Mayor Kawamura Takashi said the Nanjing Massacre "probably never happened" on Monday while meeting with a delegation from Nanjing.
周一,名古屋市市长河村隆之在会见南京代表团访问时,宣称南京大屠杀“可能没有这回事”。

The spokesman said Takashi Kawamura's remarks distorted historical facts and "seriously hurt the feelings of the Nanjing people."
该发言人表示河村隆之的发言歪曲历史事实,“严重伤害了南京人民的感情”。

The Nanjing Massacre occurred in December 1937 when Japanese troops occupied the then capital of China. More than 300,000 Chinese were believed murdered and thousands of women raped.
南京大屠杀发生在1937年12月,侵华日军攻陷当时中国的首都南京之后。在大屠杀中有30万以上中国平民和战俘被日军杀害,成千上万的无辜妇女被强暴。
