Republicans are keeping a keen eye on Maine. Mitt Romney is trying to put an end to his losing streak in today's caucuses. Meantime, Ron Paul is searching for his first win.

Violence across Syria has left at least 17 people dead today. Regime troops have been pushing into rebel-held neighborhoods in the central cities of Homs, which have seen much of the recent violence.

Hundreds of people have turned out in Washington for the funeral of the two brothers who were killed by their father in a gas-fueled blaze. The father also died in the fire. Their mother has been missing for two years.

Italians are busy digging out of a massive snowfall. Several feet is on the ground in the northern part of the country and has cut off entire towns and prevented people from leaving their homes.
