In Anglophone countries, the service you receive from your server is often different from the service you may be used to in China. When you first enter a restaurant, a host or hostess will greet you, ask how many people are in your party, and seat you in the smoking or non-smoking area depending on your preference. This is where the changes begin. Next, each member of your party will receive one menu. You will not have to share your menu with anyone else no matter if there are two of you or 12. While you are looking at your menu, where is your server? After taking your drink order, he will be tending to his other tables so that you have time to decide what you are going to eat. He does not want to hurry you to make your decision by standing at the table.
