Microblogs here in China were one of the first to report on Saturday's collision. As Internet use grows and the use of microblogs become more widespread throughout the country, Chinese Internet users are finding newer and faster ways to access information in real time. A reporter Zhang Bo investigates. Micro-blogging, otherwise known as Weibo to most netizens, is playing an increasingly important role in the daily life of the Chinese public. It covers every aspect of the country: from politics, economy, culture, and entertainment, to people's well-being and social lives. Sometimes, it can even save lives. There's been a recent high profile example of the growing significance of micro-blogging. Shortly after two high-speed trains collided on Saturday in Zhejiang Province, the alert was raised by a passenger, via her blog. It helped speed up the rescue work. This video clip was shot by a local resident, and has been widely circulated on Weibo. It's been picked up by much of the broadcast media, to show the incident. Many people have used micro-blogging to express condolences to those killed or injured.
