Young Chinese people returning from studying overseas and lacking in work experience are likely to earn a starting salary similar to those of graduates from domestic universities, because of white-hot competition in the job market, a recent survey showed.
近期一份调查表明，由于市场竞争的日趋白热化，中国具有海外留学经历但是却没有工作经历的年轻海归派和本地大学毕业生的薪金相差无几。

That's according to a report released on Tuesday by the Education International Cooperation Group (EICG), a consultative agency for study overseas.
这份报告在本周二由国际教育集团发布，国际教育集团是一家专门研究留学市场的咨询机构。

The report shows that graduates returning from foreign study earn an average starting salary of 3,000 yuan ($472) a month. And more than 70 percent of them return to China following graduation.
这份报告指出海归毕业生的平均收入在3000元，折合473美元每月。而且有超过70%的中国留学生毕业后返回中国。

As many as 7,000 returnees responded to the survey. Only 18 percent of them are earning more than 10,000 yuan a month, a 50 percent decline compared with 2010, according to the report.
总共有7000名海归参加了这次调查。根据报告，只有18%的报告说他们的月薪超过1万元，这个比例比2010年的高薪比例下降了50%。

Returnees who lack work experience suffer the most. About half of them do not have work experience overseas or in China, and most of them are unable to earn more than 5,000 yuan a month, the report said.
在这个过程当中，海归派中那些没有工作经验的最为痛苦，大约有一半的海归留学生没有国内或者海外的工作经历，他们当中的大部分起始月薪无法超过5000。

The EICG report shows that 66 percent of respondents said their overseas education is likely to be positive to their career.
来自于国际教育集团的报告还指出。依然有66%的留学认为自己的海外留学经历会给自己的职业生涯带来正面影响。

"The experience of studying overseas is likely to give me more than just my current salary," said Xu Zhi, who works for an advertising agency in Guangzhou. She said the experience of studying in the US last year will definitely help her prospects, although currently her pretax salary is about 3,000 yuan a month.
调查参与者徐芝现在供职于广州的一家广告代理商，她表示“留学经历给我带来的东西并不仅仅是当前的工资这么简单”，去年在美国的留学经验扩充了她自己的眼界，虽然当前她的税前工资只有3000元左右。

The advantage of studying overseas will gradually become more apparent as the returnees gain more work experience, said manager of EIGG, pointing out that they have an international perspective and the ability to communicate across different cultures.
国际教育集团的经理表示海外留学生的优势将会伴随着海归派获得更多的工作经验而逐步体现出来，他们具有国际的视角，同时还具备跨文化沟通的能力。

Private enterprise is the main sector employing returnees this year. The EICG report shows that 46 percent of respondents work in private enterprises, while 32 percent work for foreign-owned enterprises or joint ventures.
国际教育集团的报告指出，私营公司是海归派的主要雇主，报告中46%的参与者在私营公司上班，32%在外资私营和合资公司上班。

The report also shows that large cities such as Beijing and Shanghai are the most attractive destinations for those returning from abroad.
报告还是指出北京和上海这一类大城市是对于海归派最为有吸引力的城市。
