所谓春节恐归症，指春节前后那些在外地工作的人群，由于种种原因害怕回家过年的心态，这种心态具有普遍性。现在到了春节期间，很多白领都会有这样不想回家的心态。

Normally, people would want to go back home during this time. However, there is an increasing number of urban white-collar workers refusing to go back home before Spring Festival. Some of them have just secured a foothold for themselves in big cities, but still have no comfortable income. The high travel expenses, gift money for the family's children, and gifts for relatives would cost them a lot.

An office worker surnamed Ma has just found a job in Beijing, with a starting salary of three thousand yuan per month. He says it's a big burden for him to go home.

"It'll cost me two-month salary in total. The round trip train tickets cost about 600 yuan. I will have to prepare some pocket money and gifts to my relative's children, which will be more than two thousand yuan. Since I'm here in Beijing, my relatives kind of expect me to bring some special gifts, like the high-end brands, which will require extra expenditures. It's really a heavy financial burden for me. I've told my parents that I will go back to see them after Spring Festival."

In addition, quite a few of the city white-collars are still single, while their parents hurry them into marriage every time when they go home.

An office worker surnamed Zhang is 27 years old. His schoolmates have already had kids in his hometown. But he is still trying to establish his own career in Shenzhen without thinking about marriage. When he goes back home, the marriage issue is the biggest concern of his parents.

"Generally speaking, if you have a girlfriend, you will be urged to get married. But if you don't, then you would probably be set up with a blind date."

At the same time, as the train tickets are hard to buy and the period of Spring Festival holiday is not so long, some white-collars choose to postpone their plan to go home. White collar worker surnamed Qiao from Gansu province is one of them, saying:

"I will start to work on the eighth day of the lunar month, so my holiday period is cut to five days, and it's very difficult to buy ticket during that time."

It's common for white collar workers living in big cities to feel pressured ahead of the Spring Festival due to multiple reasons. Regardless of any reasons, many parents say seeing their children is the best New Year gift for them.
