"Cashmere is softer, warmer and lighter. It's made from the downs of goats. Wool is from sheep, and it's harder and sometimes itchy. Another measurement is the elasticity. When you clench a cashmere product in your hand, it will return to its original shape quickly. Woolen clothing cannot do that."

So how can we choose a nice cashmere sweater? Tian Meng says pay attention to two criteria.

"For the designs, do not choose those with floral prints or many rhinestones, as they are kind of outdated. The simpler the patterns are, the better. The other thing is that you have to pay attention to the time of production. Buy those cashmere sweaters that were produced within 2 years. This guarantees the quality of the sweaters."

However, everyone has some old cashmere sweaters in the closet. Some of them are loose and baggy while some others are just out of fashion. Is there any way to renew and reuse these old sweaters? The answer is yes. Now, some small clothing shops and dry cleaning shops provide people old cashmere sweater reconditioning services. Usually, one sweater takes two weeks time. Mr Wang is the owner of such a shop.

"Since old cashmere loses its elasticity, it breaks or rips easily. So we have to unravel the sweater really carefully and gently. That is time-consuming. In the meantime, when we knit the treads back together, we need to make sure the joints of different threads are inside the clothes."

Mr Wang says reconditioning one sweater costs around 130 to 150 Yuan. They have a brochure of the latest sweater designs for customers to choose from. They also welcome customers to bring pictures of their own.
