Meryl Streep has been cast in season two of the HBO series Big Little Lies.
The 68-year-old actress will play the mother to Alexander Skarsgard's abusive Perry.
She comes to the Monterey, California area after her son's passing to check on the kids he shares with Nicole Kidman's Celeste.
This news comes after the acting vet received her 21st Oscar nomination for her turn in The Post.
In BLL, Streep will play Mary Louise Wright who is in search of answers after her son's death.
She is the first confirmed cast member for the series.
Kidman and Reese Witherspoon will return in their roles it has been claimed as well as Laura Dern and Shailene Woodley.
The scripts are based on a story by Liane Moriarty, author of the Big Little Lies book that the original mini was based on.
American Honey's Andrea Arnold is set to direct all seven episodes.
