1. 我本打算回家路上去趟杂货店的，但是忘记了。
【原句】I meant to go to the grocery store on the way home, but it slipped my mind.
【解说】mean to do sth. 打算做某事，有意要做某事；slip one’s mind 忘记，遗忘
2. 玛丽和安在拼字比赛中难分高下。
【原句】Mary and Ann were neck and neck in the spelling contest.
【解说】Neck and neck这个表达出自于跑马。在赛马场上，马匹凭一个颈位之差取胜，叫做The horse wins by a neck。假如两匹马neck and neck，那就是“并驾齐驱”的意思了。所以这个短语指双方在竞争中“势均力敌，不相上下”。
3. 如果我是你的话，我会跟老师谈谈。
【原句】If I were in your shoes, I'd talk to the teacher.
【解说】be/stand in one's shoes 处于某人的位置，站在某人的立场上（穿上别人的鞋走走看才能知道人家的感受吧~）
4. 我可以做些什么来补救吗？
【原句】What can I do to make it up to you?
【解说】make it up to... 补偿（某人），来看个例子：
A: I forgot to send my sister a birthday card.（我忘记寄生日卡片给妹妹了。）
B: How are you going to make that up to her?（你打算怎么补偿她呢？）
5. 汽车没撞到孩子，但真的是死里逃生。
【原句】The car missed the child, but it was a very close call.
【解说】a close call 千钧一发，死里逃生（主要用于美国，英国英语比较多地说a close/near thing）
6. 你永远也不知道人们的想法和感受。
【原句】You can never tell what people are thinking and feeling.
【解说】You can never tell 这个句型表示“谁知道呢，谁也没把握，谁也说不准”。
7. 别再为损失哭泣了，已经没办法了。
【原句】Don't cry over your loss any more. It can't be helped.
【解说】cry over 为……而哭泣；It can't be helped. 事情就是这样，没办法了。
