September 16th, 1925 -First draft of The Sun Also Rises is completed.

Ernest Hemingway's succinct and lucid style had a tremendous impact on Modern Literature. As indicated by his former home near Havana, Cuba - Hemingway's adventurous persona often competed with his writing. After being severely wounded in World War I, he became a foreign correspondent in Europe. He achieved fame in the late 1920s with two novels - The Sun Also Rises, and A Farewell to Arms, which depicted the immorality of war in blunt terms. For Whom the Bell Tolls was equally stark about the political betrayals of the Spanish Civil War. And The Old Man and the Sea offered a modern parable of man's tortured search for fulfillment. An avid hunter, Hemingway died of a self-inflicted shotgun wound in 1961.
