Diane von Furstenberg knows not to reinvent a good thing, just tweak it enough to make it "new and fresh."

Let's have a look at the catwalk show of her spring preview that was held on Sunday in front of a packed house.

The collection was an ode to the goddess, and there was more than oneoutfit that borrowed from the ideas of ancient Greeks.

Von Furstenberg says that she almost always wears her own label. Her choices for next season will include a key-lime halter paired with jade Bermudas, a purple silk-jersey wrap dress with a hood, a white crepe dress with a plunging V neck and a gold waistband, and a sheer paneled shirt dress.

Another trend sprouting up at New York Fashion Week is florals, and no one so far has done them bigger than Carolina Herrera.

With Herrera's tasteful treatment, though, there was nothing ditzy, dated or dowdy on her runway Monday, even if the bold flowers themselves were inspired by botanical plates from the 18th century.

A crisp white blouse was paired with a slim single-fold black pencil skirt with a daisy for daytime sophistication. A lotus-embroidered illusion blouse perfectly complemented a dramatic white ballskirt that featured a double Korean bow, her replacement for grosgrain ribbon this season.

Some models wore black straw hats traditionally used by male farmers, and many also had their waists cinched by elaborate acetate belts.

The seed-packet motif on some looks distracted from the beautiful prints and colors, including bold, bright lipstick shades of hot pink and red, but there was a bird-print folded dress with its slim, chic shape was a winner.

New York Fashion Week runs through Thursday.
