An out-of-control wildfire in Southern California continues to rage. It has already burned through more than 7 square miles and forced hundreds of evacuations around the town of Palmdale. The blaze jumps State Route 14 in several spots, sending firefighters and sheriffs scattering.

It appears that representatives of Democrat Charles Rangel and lawyers for the House ethics committee have reached a plea deal in Rangel’s ethics case. However, committee members have not agreed to the settlement. The ethics panel that will judge Rangel’s conduct held its first meeting Thursday.

Authorities say a federal judge in Phoenix who shut down parts of Arizona’s controversial immigration law has been getting threats since her ruling. U.S. marshals say they’re taking the threats against Susan Bolton seriously. Meantime, Arizona officials have appealed Bolton’s ruling.

Jennifer Lopez is poised to return to Television - this time as a judge on “American Idol”. The opening on Idol comes up because talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has decided to leave the show. Simon Cowell announced in May that he would be leaving the show as well.
