The face of Modern Art has many facets, most of which were explored by Pablo Picasso. In any gallery of 20th Century Art, his influence can be seen on many major artists. Picasso's works alone could fill an entire museum and present a history of various art movements in a mad and unpredictable century. For the most part, Picasso seemed more interested in creating form than in imitating it, though that was less true at his first paintings were shown in Paris on June 24th, 1901. This vibrant self-portrait was exhibited then and destined to sell, like most Picasso's at a hefty price. Once described as a millionaire with a castle and a Communist party card, Picasso refused to slow down until his death at 92.
