BP says it expects to siphon oil from a gushing well in the Gulf of Mexico later tonight. The company says it has had some trouble inserting a tube into the broken well, but it now says it expects to reinsert the siphon Saturday.

The government in Thailand is defending the military’s deadly crackdown on protestors. At least 24 people have died as the country’s forces have battled Red Shirt anti-government demonstrators. The country’s Prime Minister says the action is saving the country’s future.

The 9-year-old boy who was the sole survivor of Libyan air crash is back in his home country. He arrived in the Netherlands Saturday. His parents and brother were killed in the crash.

She’s a national hero in Australia and she’s only 16. Jessica Watson got a massive welcome on Saturday as she completed a 7-month of solo journey around the world. She is now the youngest person to sail around the globe solo, non-stop and unassisted.
